| The history of the Hotel Dory |
The Villa Dory was a small guesthouse with just a few rooms, situated a short distance from the beach and one of the most famous nightspots in Riccione, the “Dancing Savioli”.
The guesthouse was run by Francesco Giuliodori, head chef of the “Scuola di Cucina” in Rimini (a cookery school), and his wife Giulia. |

The Giuliodori family had bought the guesthouse three years earlier, just after the Second World War, when Riccione appeared to have again found the enthusiasm and spirit of its glory years.
Francesco, an eager and ambitious man who until then had worked in the kitchens of some of the most important hotels and restaurants in Italy, invested all his life savings in the business. |
As soon as it opened, even Rodolfo, the Giuliodori’s first and only son, began to help manage the Villa Dory guesthouse.
Despite having trained as a land surveyor, Rodolfo was attracted to the fascinating world of hotel management, especially the world of five-star hotels.
In fact, he divided his time between managing the Grand Hotel in Rimini and running the family business. |
